Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Crime Branch on Friday conducted a lie detection (polygraph) test on Om Prakash Rout, an associate of deceased Government Railway Police (GRP) constable Soumya Ranjan Swain, as part of its investigation into the Balianta mob lynching case.
The examination was held at the State Forensic Science Laboratory (SFSL) in Bhubaneswar under stringent security arrangements after the investigating agency secured the required permission from the court. Om Prakash Rout also consented to undergo the test, sources said.
According to sources, investigators prepared a questionnaire comprising more than 50 questions to aid the probe. The polygraph examination was conducted by forensic experts in the presence of Crime Branch investigating officers.
The lie detection test is part of the agency’s continuing efforts to gather evidence and verify facts related to the Balianta mob lynching case. Officials have not disclosed the contents of the questionnaire or the outcome of the examination, as the investigation is still underway.
