Bhubaneswar: A minor Bangladeshi girl, suspected to be a victim of trafficking, was recently rescued by Madhupatana police in Cuttack. The minor was found roaming around Link Road area in the city late on November 9, and the next day, she was handed over to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and rehabilitated at Basundhara.

According to CWC, the girl met a youth on Facebook who allegedly lured her to India with a false job promise. However, upon arriving in India two months ago, she was taken to Kolkata and then Bhubaneswar, where she was forced to work at a massage center and allegedly coerced into prostitution.

The girl revealed to the CWC that she is from Gopalpur, but the circumstances surrounding her arrival in Cuttack are still unclear. The CWC has submitted a letter to the Cuttack CDP, seeking a thorough investigation.
Madhupatana police registered a case and launched an investigation.
Cuttack DCP said that the girl have come to Odisha without any documents. The matter will be informed to Bangladesh Embassy. A special team has been formed to investigate the circumstances that led to her arrival, DCP added.
