Banki In Cuttack Records 317 MM Rainfall In 24 Hours, Highest In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Heavy to very heavy rainfall – extremely heavy in two places – in several places in Odisha disrupted life during the last 24 hours. According to the regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar, Banki in Cuttack district recorded the highest rainfall (317 mm) in Odisha in the past 24 hours. Bhapur in Nayagarh district recorded 210 mm of rainfall.

Rainfall of 204.5 mm or above is considered to be extremely heavy rainfall, while rainfall between 115.6 mm and 204.4 mm is labelled as very heavy and rainfall within the range of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm is categorised as heavy rain.

According to the IMD, 17 places in Odisha recorded very heavy rainfall in the past 24 hours flooding houses, offices and even highways.

Places in Odisha receiving heavy rainfall during the last 24 hours include:

Begunia (196 mm), Birmaharajpur (147 mm), Hindol (144 mm), Dabugaon (142 mm), Bolangir (135 mm), Bargarh (135 mm), Ranpur (132.4 mm), Atabira (132.2 mm), Khajuripada (130.4 mm), Bhatli (130 mm), Bolagarh (130 mm), Dharmagarh (129.6 mm), Kotpad (128 mm), Kesinga (127 mm), Binika (125 mm), Narla (123.2 mm), and Tentulikhunti (121 mm).
