Bargarh: In a significant crackdown, Bheden police in Bargarh district have arrested seven young men for allegedly sharing obscene photos of a minor girl, triggering widespread outrage.
The arrests were made following a complaint lodged by the minor at Bheden police station.
The prime accused, Basant Patel, aged 24, was reportedly in a romantic relationship with the minor. Following a dispute, Patel is accused of distributing explicit photos of the girl via mobile devices, causing them to go viral. Based on the complaint Bheden police arrested Patel.
Further investigation led to the arrest of six others involved in circulating the photos: Chhabil Melli (23), Jibardhan Behera (24), Prakash Padhan (24), Subrat Padhan (26), Toshbant Padhan (26), and Prafulla Behera (23). All seven accused have been forwarded to court.
The case has raised serious concerns about the misuse of digital platforms and the protection of minors. Further investigation in the matter is underway.
