Koraput: A 70-year-old woman was killed after being mauled by a bear near Bisinghapur Square under Borigumma forest range in Koraput district.
The victim, identified as Mitiki Amanatya from Mundaguda village, was attacked by the bear while going to the forest at around 5 am in the wee hours of Tuesday.
The bear pounced on the woman and bit her, causing severe injuries which led her to death. Local people and relatives rushed to the spot after learning about the incident and are demanding compensation from the forest department.
The incident has raised concerns about human-wildlife conflict in the area, and the district administration is urged to take necessary measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
