Puri: In a tragic incident, a youth drowned in the sea in Puri on Wednesday.
The deceased youth has been identified as Archit Bannerjee.
According to reports, Archit, a native of Bankura district of neighbouring West Bengal was on a visit to Puri with his family. He was staying at lodging Gadadhar Dham in Baliapanda area of the town.
While taking bath in the sea near Baliapanda Archit was swept away in the high tide and had gone missing.
Later, some lifeguards saw him floating in the sea. They brought the him ashore and applied first aid. However, he was found dead.
An official of the lifeguards has informed that Archit was dead.
Baliapanda police after seizing the body have sent it for post-mortem to the district headquarters hospital here and have launched an investigation into the matter.
