Bhubaneswar: The historic Bhadrak Kali Puja will be celebrated for 7 days this year, from October 21 to 27.
In a meeting held on October 9, the district administration announced the decision, citing various reasons.
The meeting, chaired by District Collector Dilip Routrai discussed arrangements and measures to ensure smooth conduct of the festival, including road maintenance, lighting, and law and order.
During the meeting, District Superintendent of Police Manoj Rout emphasized the need to strengthen law and order arrangements to control large number of crowds during the festival. He also appealed to the public to cooperate with the police in various areas during the celebrations.
According to decisions taken in the meeting, the district administration will install CCTV cameras in all puja pandals and connect them to the police control room. Additionally, generators will be provided to each pandal to prevent power outages.
Besides, the administration has made arrangements for two artificial ponds to be built at Dagara Sahi Canal Road and Chhapulia for the immersion of the idol.
The district administration has, meanwhile, appealed to the public to cooperate with the police to maintain peace and order during the festival. The police have warned against misusing social media during the festival and have set up a 24-hour social media cell to monitor the situation.
Notably, the Kali puja will begin on October 21 and conclude on October 28 with the idol immersion ceremony.
