Bhadrak: Police busted a cattle smuggling racket and rescued 35 bovines in the Basudevpur area of Odisha’s Bhadrak district. The police also seized a 16-wheeler truck used for smuggling cattle and arrested two persons in connection with the crime.
According to reports, after learning that cattle are often being smuggled out of the state from the Basudevpur area, Bhadrak SP Madhkar Sandeep Sampath started an investigation to curb the menace and arrest those involved in the crime.
On Monday, police received information that 35 cows were being smuggled in a very inhumane manner in a 16-wheeler truck on the Basudevpur Jamujhadi road. When the Basudevpur police intercepted vehicle near the Atal Bihari High School Chhak, the smugglers tried to push the vehicle towards the police. However, the police succeeded in foiling the designs of the smugglers and seized the vehicle and arrested the driver and helper of the vehicle.
