Bhubaneswar: Bhakta Charan Das on Monday resigned from the post of the Odisha Pradesh Congress Campaign Committee Chairman. Das has sent his resignation letter to the AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge.

In his resignation letter to the Congress president, Das wrote that he was quitting his post taking responsibility for the disastrous performance of the Congress candidates in the recently held Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in Odisha.

It is worth mentioning here that the Congress won 14 of the 141 Assembly seats and the Koraput Lok Sabha seat in the 2024 General Elections in Odisha.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge had in March 2024 removed Bijay Patnaik from the post of Odisha Congress Campaign Committee Chairman and appointed Bhakta Charan Das in his place.
