Bhubaneswar: Odisha Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo has directed Tata Power to expedite infrastructure works aimed at improving power reliability and electricity services in Niali.
Chairing a review meeting on the power transmission and distribution systems in the area, Singh Deo asked the power utility to prioritise comprehensive renovation, stabilisation and capacity enhancement of the critical 33KV transmission network across the region. The meeting was attended by Niali MLA Chhabi Malik and senior officials of the Energy Department and Tata Power.
The Deputy Chief Minister also directed Tata Power to fast-track the technical restoration and upgradation of AB (Air Break) switches and power distribution transformers. He ordered immediate maintenance drives to remove creepers and heavy vegetation from transformers and transmission lines to prevent short-circuits and power disruptions.
Stressing consumer safety, Singh Deo directed officials to ensure strict compliance with earthing safety standards in households across the region. He said the pace and quality of the ongoing works would be closely monitored and cautioned officials that he would undertake unannounced field visits to Niali to inspect the progress of the renovation and upgradation works.
