Bhubaneswar: Five police officials from Bharatpur police station, including Inspector-In-Charge Dinakrushna Mishra, who were suspended over the alleged assault of an Indian Army officer and his fiancée, have sought anticipatory bail from the Orissa High Court, on Monday.
In a bid to evade arrest and potential prosecution, the IIC among the five cops of Bharatpur police station reportedly approached the Orissa High Court seeking anticipatory bail, sources said.
Meanwhile, the IIC of Bharatpur police station among the five cops have undergone lie detector tests at a forensic laboratory at Gandhinagar in Gujarat. A three-member Crime Branch team had earlier sought the permission of the SDJM court in Bhubaneswar to take them to Gujarat.
IIC Dinkrushna Mishra faced polygraph, brain mapping and narco test as serious charges have been lodged against him. The remaining four cops present at the police station on the fateful night underwent polygraph tests.
It is pertinent to note that the Army officer and his fiancée were allegedly tortured by the police when they had gone to the police station to file a road rage complaint on September 14 night.
Instead of addressing their concerns, the police allegedly tortured the officer and his female friend.
