Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police on Monday issued a detailed traffic advisory ahead of Hanuman Jayanti and Maha Bishuba Sankranti celebrations on April 14, warning of congestion, diversions, and temporary road closures across the city due to multiple religious processions and rallies.
According to the advisory, large-scale padayatras, bike rallies, cycle rallies, and religious processions will be organised by various temple committees, clubs, and organisations throughout the day in Bhubaneswar and adjoining areas. These events are expected to draw significant participation, impacting vehicular movement along several prominent routes.
Key processions will originate from and pass through areas such as Jatni, Balipatna, Balianta, Jagamara, Barimunda, Rasulgarh, Vani Vihar, Kalinga Stadium, and Master Canteen, among others. Prominent routes likely to witness heavy traffic include Raj Mahal Square, Ram Mandir, Airport Square, Sishu Bhawan Square, Ganganagar, and Nicco Park Square.
The advisory outlines specific time slots for each rally, ranging from early morning hours to late evening, with multiple overlapping events likely to intensify congestion during peak periods.
Police Commissioner Suresh Dev Datta Singh urged commuters to plan their travel in advance and use alternative routes wherever possible. “Public cooperation is essential to ensure smooth traffic management and the peaceful conduct of the events,” the advisory stated.
Traffic personnel will be deployed at key junctions to regulate movement and minimize inconvenience.
