Bhubaneswar: A new Passenger Halt at Taraboi, located between Khurda Road and Khurda Town Railway Stations on the ongoing Khurda Road–Balangir Rail Line under Khurda Road Division of East Coast Railway has been inaugurated today. The Passenger Halt was inaugurated by Lok Sabha MP Aparajita Sarangi.
Gracing the occasion, Sarangi said that, she is delighted to inaugurate the new Passenger Halt at Taraboi on the Khurda Road–Balangir Rail Line today. This much-awaited facility will greatly benefit the people of Taraboi and the surrounding Gram Panchayats and will especially serve the students and faculty of IIT Bhubaneswar, NISER and other reputed educational institutions nearby.
With four pairs of trains now halting here, the convenience of daily commuters will increase manifold. She also said that, this halt will not only provide better connectivity to educational hubs, healthcare facilities and nearby villages but will also promote tourism to historic places like Barunei Hills, Khurda Fort, and Barunei Temple. This is yet another step towards fulfilling the vision of Indian Railways for inclusive growth, last-mile connectivity, and enhanced passenger convenience for the people of Odisha.
Welcoming the dignitaries, public representatives, media and local citizens present on the occasion, Divisional Railway Manager of Khurda Road Railway Division, Alok Tripathi highlighted the importance of Taraboi Passenger Halt which will meet the long-standing demand of the local people and emphasized the role of Indian Railways in bringing inclusive development and improved connectivity to every corner of the region.
Approved by Railway Board in January 2024, the Taraboi Passenger Halt was completed in September 2025 at a cost of ₹80 lakhs. It will serve more than five Gram Panchayats in the region. The halt has been provided with modern passenger amenities, including Drinking Water (Hand Pump), Waiting Hall, Platform Shelter with 06 Bays, Adequate Lighting, Rail Level Platform, Time Table Board & Fare Chart, Dustbins and Toilets.
Four pairs of trains, including 68443/68444 Bhadrak-Daspalla-Bhadrak MEMU, 68429/68430 Bhubaneswar-Daspalla-Bhubaneswar MEMU, 18423/18424 Bhubaneswar–Daspalla-Bhubaneswar Express, and 68449/68450 Puri–Daspalla-Puri MEMU, will now provide stoppage at Taraboi Passenger Halt from today onwards.
Towards Daspalla from Taraboi, 68443 Bhadrak Daspalla MEMU will arrive at 0918hrs and will leave at 0919hrs; 68429 Bhubaneswar-Daspalla MEMU will arrive at 1019hrs and will leave at 1020hrs; 18423 Bhubaneswar-Daspalla Express will arrive at 1900hrs and will leave at 1902hrs and 68449 Puri-Daspalla MEMU will arrive at Taraboi at 1925hrs and will leave towards Daspalla at 1926hrs.
Similarly, Towards Khurda Road from Taraboi, 18424 Daspalla- Bhubaneswar Express will arrive at Taraboi at 0755hrs and will leave at 0756hrs; 68450 Daspalla- Puri MEMU will arrive at 0818hrs and will leave at 0820hrs; 68430 Daspalla- Bhubaneswar MEMU will arrive at 1725hrs and will leave at 1726hrs and 68444 Daspalla- Bhadrak MEMU will arrive at Taraboi at 1808hrs and will leave at 1809hrs towards Khurda Road.
The inauguration of this new halt station reflects the firm commitment of Indian Railways to improving last-mile connectivity, providing ease of travel and fostering regional development.
