Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar Police have made elaborate arrangements for the peaceful celebration of Ganesh Puja on September 7.
This year, police have banned to use of DJs during Ganesh Puja. Instead, the emphasis is on playing traditional musical instruments. Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh said detailed discussions have been held with puja committees and their concerns were addressed.
“Matters related to the procession, which will be held on September 8, 11 and 15, have been discussed. We have been directed to use traditional musical instruments instead of DJs during the procession. The committees will need to ensure that city traffic is not affected due to processions,” said Singh.
Besides, matters such as ample parking space, fire safety measures, CCTV cameras and deployment of volunteers have also been discussed with the puja committees.
On Saturday, Police Commissioner Sanjeev Panda said strict action will be taken if anyone makes distorted idols of Ganesha. He said action will be taken against any club or institution that defaces statues.
