Bhubaneswar: In a decisive crackdown, the Commissionerate Police demolished three illicit liquor units in Salia Sahi, slum of the city, on Saturday.
The raid, led by DCP Prateek Singh and other senior officials, resulted in the seizure of a substantial quantity of illicit liquor and related manufacturing equipment.
Acting on reliable intelligence, the police team arrived at the location and uncovered a secret underground chamber within a room, where the illegal liquor trade was being conducted. The chamber was equipped with luxurious amenities, including Wi-Fi facilities.
“We conducted a raid based on credible information and dismantled the illicit liquor operations at Salia Sahi. The illegal business was being run inside a hidden chamber. We maintain zero tolerance towards illegal liquor trading and are taking firm action,” stated Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh.
Singh further mentioned that several individuals have been detained in connection with the case, while others remain at large. “We have identified all suspects and will apprehend them soon,” he added.
This raid is part of a broader crackdown on illegal liquor operations across the state, following the Ganjam hooch tragedy.
