Bhubaneswar: The state capital continued to reel under severe heatwave conditions on Tuesday, with the temperature reaching 36.8°C at 11:30 am today.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the heat index which measures how hot it actually feels soared to a dangerous 49°C due to high humidity of 56%.
The combination of high temperature and humidity has made the weather extremely uncomfortable and potentially hazardous, especially for vulnerable groups such as the elderly, children, and outdoor workers.
The IMD has issued a caution alert for extreme heat conditions in Bhubaneswar. People have been advised to avoid direct exposure to the sun between 11 am and 3 pm, stay hydrated, and take necessary precautions to prevent heat-related illnesses.
