Bhubaneswar: Women face challenges every day, yet they are celebrated officially only once a year. To honor their continuous efforts, the Seva Prayas Foundation (SPF) is organising the SPF Kalinga Virangana Cricket League for Women alongside the Women’s Day Festival 2026 from March 6 to 8, 2026. The three-day event aims to empower women, boost their self-confidence, and reinforce their role in society through sports and cultural activities.
The festival will take place at the Hi-Tech Medical College Cricket Ground, Bhubaneswar. On March 6 (Friday), knockout and final matches for students will be held. March 7 (Saturday) will feature knockout matches between teams from social organisations.
The celebrations will peak on March 8 (Sunday) with the SPF Women’s Car Rally-2026, flagged off at 7:50 AM from Aditya Motors – Mahindra, Pahala, covering approximately 10 km within Bhubaneswar and culminating at the Hi-Tech Medical College Cricket Ground. The day will also witness the Grand Final of the SPF Kalinga Virangana Cricket League, featuring renowned women cricketers from Odisha, along with cultural programs, felicitation ceremonies, and prize distribution.
Speaking about the initiative, SPF highlighted that the event seeks to motivate women to actively participate in sports, social, and cultural fields, sending a strong message of empowerment across society. The event is being organised under the leadership of Lincon Subudhi, Founder of SPF; Biswajit Sahu, Coordinator and Project Director of SPF; and Anuradha Biswal, Advisor of SPF.
