Bhubaneswar: A 25-year-old woman traffic constable posted in Bhubaneswar has been missing for nearly a week, sparking anxiety among her family, colleagues, and the police department.
The missing constable has been identified as Shubhamitra Sahoo. She was residing in a rented house in the Surya Nagar (Unit-7) area of the city. According to reports, Shubhamitra last reported for duty on September 6. While she was scheduled to return home after her shift ended around 7 pm, she never made it back.
Her worried family lodged a complaint at Capital Police Station, following which a missing person case was registered. The probe team has since seized her mobile phone, which was found at her rented accommodation, and is verifying her call detail records (CDR) to gather leads.
Shubhamitra’s father, who met the Twin City Police Commissioner, urged authorities to expedite efforts to trace his daughter. “She went to duty in the morning but never returned. I have full faith in the Department and hope they will do the needful,” he told reporters.
Police sources said multiple angles are being explored, and teams have been deployed to track her whereabouts. Meanwhile, her disappearance has left her family devastated and her colleagues in the city traffic wing deeply concerned.
