Bhubaneswar: Former Chief Minister of Odisha, Biju Patnaik was son of the soil. He was a towering personality, firmly committed for the upliftment of the people of Odisha, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said.
Offering prayers on the 25th death anniversary of the legendary Biju Babu, several programmes were organised across the State, including one at the Biju Patnaik Park here to observe his 25th death anniversary.
Mayor Sulochana Das, local MLAs, and senior leaders, participated in programmes organised at the park. Born in 1916, Patnaik passed away on April 17, 1997 at a hospital in New Delhi. His final rites were performed amid a sea of followers and leaders from all parts of the country at Puri’s Swargadwar the following day.
Remembering the visionary leader and his father, Naveen said, “Odisha is progressing in all aspects by treading the path shown by him. The ideals and policies of the great leader inspire us for public service.”
