Balasore: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has intensified its movement demanding Notified Area Council (NAC) status to Khaira in Balasore district. After a 7-hour roadblock to Kupari on September 3, the BJD has announced a 6-hour bandh in Khaira Bazaar on September 6, demanding NAC status for the area.
Under the leadership of former minister and former Simulia MLA Jyoti Prakash Panigrahi, the BJD organized a press conference at its office in Khaira Bazaar. Panigrahi condemned the BJP government’s activities and local MLAs, emphasizing the need for NAC status for Khaira. During the bandh, the highway in Khaira Bazaar will be closed for six hours, and offices, schools, colleges, and roadside ghats will remain shut.
The BJD has warned that the agitation will be intensified further if the government fails to declare Khaira as a NAC within the next 10 days.
