Bhubaneswar: BJD candidate Alka Mohanty has emerged victorious in the by-election to Brajrajnagar assembly seat in Jharsuguda district, the result of which was declared on Friday.
Alka defeated Congress candidate Kishore Patel with a margin of 66225 votes. While she secured 93,790 votes, Patel received 27,565 votes, and BJP’s Radharani Panda received 22,316 votes.
Alka is the wife of late Brajrajnagar MLA Kishore Kumar Mohanty, whose demise necessitated the by-poll.
