Bhubaneswar: BJD leader and former Nabarangpur MP Pradeep Kumar Majhi married his long-time girlfriend Sushree Sangita on Wednesday. The wedding ceremony took place at a private function in Goa, attended by family members, close relatives, and friends.
Sushree Sangita, a native of Kendrapara is a former journalist who has worked with several vernacular newspapers and television channels. She holds a degree in journalism and mass communication from Utkal University in Bhubaneswar.
Majhi expressed his delight about this new chapter in his life, stating that he decided to marry as it may bring a change in his fortune. His family members had also been urging him to get married.
A former Lok Sabha MP from Odisha’s Nabarangpur constituency, Majhi was first elected on a Congress ticket in 2009. During his time in the Congress party, he was close to Rahul Gandhi and held key positions, including president of the Youth Congress in Odisha and executive president of the party in the state.
Majhi joined the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) in 2021, led by Naveen Patnaik, but failed to win the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from the Nabarangpur segment on a BJD ticket.
