Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has announced its two candidates for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections.
Party president Naveen Patnaik declared Santrupt Misra and Dr. Datteswar Hota as the party’s nominees for the third and fourth seats respectively.
Talking to mediapersons, Patnaik said, “For Rajya Sabha election, our party has decided to give two candidates. The first candidate for the third seat is Santrupt Misra, a senior member of our party and second candidate for the fourth seat is a common candidate, Dr Datteswar Hota, the first Vice-Chancellor of the Odisha University of Health Sciences and principal of SCB Medical College. Since he is a common candidate, I appeal to all the parties to support him and send him to Rajya Sabha”.
It is pertinent to mention that Misra, a senior BJD leader, had earlier contested the Lok Sabha elections from Cuttack. Dr. Hota, a renowned urologist, was the first Vice-Chancellor of the Odisha University of Health Sciences.
The party has appealed to all other parties to support Dr Hota’s candidature.
