Angul: In a tragic incident, a woman and her three-year-old daughter died after being attacked by a wild elephant while returning home after watching a Danda Nacha in Bantala area of Angul district.
The incident occurred in the Madhupur village area under Bantala police station limits within the Anugul forest range.
The victims used to work at a farmhouse in Bhukilapal village. On Thursday night, the family had gone to Nua Kuhlasahi for some work. While returning through Nalamala area Madhupur, a rogue elephant suddenly attacked them. In the chaos, the woman’s husband managed to escape with injuries and ran to Madhupur village to seek help. By the time he returned with villagers, the elephant had already trampled the mother and her daughter to death.
Upon being informed by locals, Forest Department officials reached the spot and have launched an investigation into the matter.
