Jharsuguda: BJD candidate for the Jharsuguda Assembly constituency Dipali Das submitted her nomination papers on Tuesday. A by-election to the seat was necessitated following the murder of Dipali’s father and former Health minister Naba Kishore Das on January 29.
Deepali Das took the blessings of Maa Patneswari, Sriganesh and Mahadev before filing the nomination. Before setting out to file her nomination papers with a huge procession, she took her mother’s blessings to be able to keep fulfilling her father’s promises to the people of the constituency.
Talking to the media, Dipali said that she hopes to do something for the people of Jharsuguda like her father Naba Kishore Das. In fact, her father wanted Dipali to join politics and carry forward his mission, the BJD candidate said.
“I will go to the people with the issue of development, she said, adding, “I will work under the guidance of the Chief Minister for the uplift and advancement of the women in the state.”
Dipali’s procession passed through Jharsuguda town before culminating at the SDO’s office to file her nomination. BJD general secretary Pranab Prakash Das, party observers Prasanna Acharya, Devi Prasad Mishra and Sharda Prasad Naik joined the procession. In addition, several ministers including Niranjan Pujari, Arun Sahu, Tukuni Sahu, Rita Sahu, Pratap Jena, Pratap Dev, Padmanav Behera, Snehangini Chhariya and Pushpendra Singhdeo also joined the procession.
BJP and Congress nominees for the Jharsuguda Assembly by-polls, Tankadhar Tripathy and Tarun Pandey respectively have already filed their papers making the contest triangular.
