Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) today reiterated its demand for revision of coal royalty which has not been revised since 2013.
“People of State are waiting in eagerness to learn what promises the new Chief Minister and his two deputies have got for Odisha after meeting the President, Prime Minister and other Union Ministers now since there is double engine government,” said senior BJD leader and Deputy Leader of the Opposition Prasanna Acharya addressing a presser here today.
Acharya said that for building Vikshit Odisha, the State’s economy needs to be further strengthened.
In the last 24 years under the leadership of Naveen Babu the State has made much development economically.
“Since there is a double engine government now both BJP government in the State and Centre as well therefore whatever is required for Vikshit Odisha we hope the Central government will accept and provide as per the advice of the State government. It is a long-time demand of the Odisha government and its people and all political parties for increasing coal royalty which has not been hiked by the Central government since 2013,” pointed out Acharya.
He said that earlier coal royalty was revised every three years but it has not been so since 2013 despite several rounds of discussions and letters to the Prime Minister and other Ministers.
