Bhubaneswar: Ending a long wait and speculations, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) supremo and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday announced the first list of candidates for the 2024 Lok Sabha and Assembly constituencies.
Patnaik today announced the names of nine Lok Sabha candidates and 71 nominees for the Assembly seats. The Chief Minister himself will contest the Hinjli Assembly constituency.
Springing a surprise, he nominated BJD organisational secretary Pranab Prakash Das, popularly known as Bobby Das, for the Sambalpur Lok Sabha constituency, while Anshuman Mohanty has been selected for the Kendrapara seat. It is worth mentioning that Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan is the BJP nominee for the Sambalpur constituency.
Manmath Routray, who joined the BJD on Wednesday morning, has been nominated for the Bhubaneswar Lok Sabha seat. He will be contesting sitting BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi.
The names and constituencies of the nine Lok Sabha nominees are below:

- Kendrapada – Anshuman Mohanty
- Nabarangpur – Pradeep Kumar Majhi
- Kalahandi – Lambodar Nial
- Bhubaneswar – Manmath Routray
- Koraput- Kausalya Hikaka
- Aska – Ranjita Sahu
