Bhubaneswar: Amid growing controversy over the Srimandir Parikrama Project, the ruling BJD has sought support from all for the project as monsoon and Rath Yatra is approaching.
The Srimandir Parikrama Project was prepared and recommended by the Srimandir Managing Committee. Firstly, the plan was prepared and kept in the public domain for the opinion of people and various organizations. Thereafter, the plan was recommended by the Managing Committee, said BJD spokesperson Lenin Mohanty in a press statement today.
Mohanty has stated that the Srimandir Parikrama Plan then came to the Odisha Government which could have approved it. “Instead, it decided to take it to the people of Odisha in the Odisha Legislative Assembly and the plan was passed unanimously by all MLAs without any opposition,” Mohanty added.
The BJD spokesperson has pointed out that after the Plan was approved, it was sent to the National Monument Authority (NMA) which approved the proposal.
After approval of the NMA, the foundation stone for the Srimandir Parikrama Project was laid, he added.
He has said that for this ceremony, leaders of all political parties, as well as various other dignitaries, were invited and after that work was started.
Mohanty has stated that ASI gave certain suggestions which were duly incorporated and modifications were done accordingly.
The BJD spokesperson has informed that the plan is being implemented after consulting people and various organizations, unanimous passing of it by the Odisha Legislative Assembly and subsequent approval by NMA.
“It is hoped that all should support the Srimandir Project as monsoons as well as Rath Yatra is approaching,” he added.
