Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) today announced to start its annual ‘Jan Sampark Padyatra’ from Gandhi Jayanti on October 2.
The 10-day long public outreach programme, which aims to apprise people of the pro-people initiatives of Naven Patnatik, will culminate on the birth Anniversary of Jayaprakash Narayan on October 11.
This year padyatra will be observed at the Assembly segment level along with the celebration of Gandhi Jayanti, Shastri Jayanti, Utkalmani Gopabandhu Das Jayanti, and Jayaprakash Narayan Jayanti during the period, BJD vice-president Debi Mishra said at a press meet.
The party will also organise training camps for a month starting October 12 for active members of the party at Zilla Parishad zone and Civic body level in all Assembly constituencies.
Besides, the party will also hold blood donation camps, plantation drive, and other social activities.
The foundation day of the BJD will be observed in all Assembly segments on December 26. On the occasion, the party leaders will garland the statues of freedom fighters and great leaders.
Local MP, MLAs, district presidents, panchayat and civic body leaders, youth and students leaders, and members of other frontal wings will take part in the padyatra and other organizational programmes.
