Puri: Senior BJD leader and former Puri MP Pinaki Misra reportedly married TMC MP Mahua Moitra in a low-key manner in Germany. The 65-year-old Supreme Court lawyer had tied the knot on May 30 in a private ceremony.
The newlywed couple is tight-lipped about the event as no official announcement was made. A photo of the couple in traditional attire surfaced on a section of national media.
Moitra is currently serving as a TMC MP from Krishnagar Lok Sabha constituency in West Bengal, while Misra was denied a ticket in the 2024 Lok Sabha election. Misra served as MP from Puri for three consecutive terms from 2009 to 2019. The lawyer-politician has a son and daughter from his previous marriage.
Mahua Moitra is a prominent politician and former investment banker who has made a name for herself with her bold and unapologetic speeches in the Indian Parliament. Her political career has been marked by significant milestones, including serving as an MLA from Karimpur and winning the Krishnanagar Lok Sabha seat in 2019 as a Trinamool Congress candidate. Despite facing a setback in 2023, when she was expelled from Parliament over a controversy, Moitra demonstrated her resilience and made a strong comeback by winning the seat again in 2024.
