Jagatsinghpur: A 32-year-old man went missing after reportedly falling from the Shikhar Ghat Bridge over the Devi River in the Naugaon police station area of Jagatsinghpur district. The incident occurred under unclear circumstances, with initial reports suggesting he may have fallen while attempting to take a selfie.

The missing person has been identified as Suryakanta Lenka, a resident of Bachhal village in Bachhal Panchayat under Naugaon police limits.

Eyewitnesses claim that he fell into the river from the bridge, possibly while taking a selfie, though the exact cause has not yet been confirmed.

Local residents promptly alerted the Naugaon fire brigade, which quickly launched a search operation. Despite continued efforts by the fire brigade and local volunteers, Suryakanta had not been located at the time of reporting.

In response to the situation, an ODRAF (Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force) team has been dispatched to the site to assist in the search and rescue efforts. The cause of the fall remains under investigation.
