Bhubaneswar: BJP candidate Debashish Samantaray today filed his nomination papers for the upcoming Rajya Sabha by-election from Odisha.
Samantaray submitted three sets of nomination papers at the designated office. A large number of senior BJP leaders were present on the occasion to extend their support. Prominent leaders present during the filing included BJP State President Manmohan Samal, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Ministers Suresh Pujari, Dr Mukesh Mahaling, Krushna Chandra Patra and MLA Akash Dasnayak among others.
Prior to filing the nomination, Debashish Samantaray met with senior BJP leaders at the party’s state office.
Speaking on the occasion, BJP State President Manmohan Samal said, “After Debashish Samantray joined the party, BJP’s strength has increased significantly. Some other leaders will also join the party in the coming days.”
After receiving the BJP ticket, Samantray reacted to the media saying, “BJP has shown faith in me. I will do whatever is required for the development of the state.”
