Bhubaneswar: Hours after resigning from BJP, Sambalpur MP Nitesh Gangdev’s wife Arundhati Kumari Devi and son Naman Gangdev on Tuesday joined the Biju Janata Dal (BJD).

The mother-son duo today visited the Naveen Niwas and formally joined the regional party in presence of BJD president and CM Naveen Patnaik. BJD Rajya Sabha MP Manas Mangraj was also present during her joining.

The BJP MP Nitesh Gangdev, who was seen sidelined from party affairs for a long time, was not available for comment on the development.

Arundhati Kumari Devi was also not active in the party’s organisational work.  Earlier in the day, she announced her resignation from BJP through a social media post.

Notably, the BJP has replaced Nitesh Gangdev with union minister Dharmendra Pradhan as party’s Lok Sabha candidate from Sambalpur.
