Bhubaneswar: The BJP released a ‘chargesheet’ against the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) at a function in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday alleging that the ruling party has misled and harassed the people of Odisha during its 25-year rule in the state. The chargesheet highlighted several issues like labour migration, lack of welfare measures and employment opportunities in Odisha.
The chargesheet was released with the tagline ‘Kete Dina Au Sahiba, Parivartan Aniba (How long do we tolerate it, it’s time to bring a change) and raised several questions regarding the alleged misrule of the BJD.
Addressing a gathering on the occasion, Union Minister Bhupender Yadav said, “The BJP is contesting the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in Odisha to form governments at the Centre and the state and offer good governance. During the last 25 years, the people of Odisha have suffered a lot of injustices due to the misrule of the BJD government and we want to end that.”
He added, “The popularity of the BJD has waned over the years as the party has done little in the fields of developmental and public welfare. Though the Odisha government promised several things like irrigation facilities and warehouses for the farmers, it has done nothing.”
Dwelling on the issue of migratory labourers, Yadav said, “More and more landless labourers from Odisha are migrating to other states and over 40,000 labourers have moved out of Odisha in the past year.”
Several senior BJD leaders, including the state unity party president Manmohan Samal and party national vice-president Baijayant Panda, were present on the occasion.
