BLOs Directed to Ensure 100% Voter Mapping In Bhubaneswar Assembly Segments

Bhubaneswar: The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Odisha, R. S. Gopalan, on Wednesday chaired a crucial review meeting of Booth Level Officers (BLOs) from four Assembly constituencies under Bhubaneswar—Ekamra, Bhubaneswar Uttar, Bhubaneswar Madhya, and Jatni—at the Ekamra Hall of the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) headquarters.

The meeting focused on strengthening the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and ensuring the preparation of a zero-error voter list ahead of upcoming electoral exercises.

Addressing the BLOs and Supervisors, CEO Gopalan highlighted the importance of systematic voter list revision, including the addition of eligible new voters, deletion of names of deceased and shifted voters, verification of existing data, and completion of house-to-house verification. He stressed that accuracy, transparency, and timeliness are essential to maintaining the integrity of the electoral process.

Additional Chief Electoral Officer Sushant Kumar Mishra underscored the need to achieve 100 per cent special intensive revision mapping through door-to-door verification. He directed BLOs to submit daily progress reports to the respective Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Additional Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs). Special attention, he said, must be given to areas where the mapping percentage remains low to ensure full coverage within the stipulated timeline.

Discussions were also held on organising local awareness camps with the support of ASHA workers and corporators to encourage citizens to verify and update their electoral details. Officials emphasised the need to create widespread awareness about the Special Intensive Revision process and urged voters to use digital platforms such as the Election Commission’s Voter Helpline App and the NVSP portal. Citizens were also encouraged to utilise the “Book a Call with BLO” facility to clarify doubts related to voter mapping and electoral rolls.

The officers called upon BLOs to discharge their responsibilities with alertness, impartiality, and a sense of accountability to ensure that no errors occur in the electoral roll preparation.

The meeting was attended by Additional District Magistrate, Khordha, Pratap Chandra Beura; Deputy CEO Dr. Laxmi Prasad Sahu; and several Electoral Registration Officers and Additional Electoral Registration Officers, along with Booth Level Officers and Supervisors from the concerned constituencies.
