Bhubaneswar: The Biju Janata Dal (BJD) is facing a major setback in Bhadrak district, with multiple block chairpersons resigning from their posts and the party’s primary membership.
In a significant blow to the party’s stronghold, Bhadrak Block Chairperson Urmila Nayak and Bhandari Pokhari Block Chairperson Sumati Sethi have tendered their resignations, citing personal reasons.
This comes after Bonth Block Chairman Manoranjan Ghadai’s resignation. All three have submitted their resignation letters to the BJD’s Bhadrak district president.
The developments have raised concerns about the party’s grip on the district, with opposition parties likely to capitalise on the situation.
Two days ago, Talcher Municipality chairperson Pabitra Bhutia and 13 other councillors had left BJD and joined the BJP.
