Bhubaneswar: A total of 22 Urban Primary Health Centers (UPHCs) under the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) have been awarded the Kayakalp Award.
According to an official press release, these include Bharatpur, Satyanagar, Brahmeswar Patna, Chandrasekharpur, Gadakana, Ghatikia, IRC Village, Jharapada, Kalpana, Kapil Prasad, Naharkanta, Niladri Vihar, Pahal, Pokhariput, Rasulgarh, Sahid Nagar, Samantapuri, Baramunda, Shikharachandi, Unit-3, Unit-9, and Unit-8 Primary Health Centers. Similarly, four Urban Community Health Centers (UCHCs) have also received the Kayakalp Award.
The award, conferred by the Union Ministry of Health, recognizes hospitals for cleanliness, well-organized medical services, infection control, community healthcare services outside the hospital, drinking water facilities, hygiene and sanitation, waste management, and ancillary services.
As part of the award, each Primary Health Center receives ₹50,000 along with a certificate, while each Community Health Center is awarded ₹1 lakh and a certificate. Notably, this year, Satyanagar Primary Health Center has been recognized as the best in the entire district, earning a special award of ₹2 lakh. Among the four Community Health Centers, Dumuduma, Patia, Unit-4, and BMC Hospital have received this recognition, each awarded ₹1 lakh and a certificate.
Upon receiving this news, Mayor Sulochana Das and Commissioner Rajesh Prabhakar Patil expressed their delight. They congratulated all doctors, healthcare workers, and citizens, as every Primary Health Center under BMC has received the Kayakalp Award. They attributed this achievement to the cooperation and relentless efforts of sanitation workers, doctors, healthcare staff, inspection teams, and management officials. Additional Commissioner (Health) Shubhendu Kumar Sahu also extended his gratitude to everyone involved.
