Bhubaneswar: Over 30 hours after a man jumped into the Baitarini river with his infant daughter in Odisha’s Bhadrak district, his body was recovered from Paramanandpur under Bhandaripokhari police limits in Odisha’s Bhadrak district on Friday. However, the search team is yet to trace the whereabouts of his daughter. As a result, it has been decided to continue the search operation for the minor girl.
According to reports, a man jumped into the Baitarani River along with his 2-year-old daughter in Akhuapada village of Bhadrak district in Odisha on Wednesday.
The man, identified as Chandan Sahu, is a resident of Balipokhari village under the Bhandari Pokhari police limits.
Chandan’s wife had died a few months ago in Surat and he returned to his village with his daughter. While the circumstances under which Chandan took the drastic step are yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that he attempted to end his life as he was under severe mental pressure after the death of his wife.
