Jajpur: The body of a young woman, who had gone missing after jumping into the Kharasrota River from the Rajghat bridge in the Jajpur district on Thursday, was fished out from Kalaspur Balighat under Sadar police limits on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Mandakini Samal, a resident of Sribantapur. She was working as an Anganwadi worker.
According to eyewitnesses, Mandakini kept her scooter, shoes, and mobile phone off the bridge before jumping into the river. The police have recovered the young woman’s belongings, including her scooter and phone.
On a tip-off, firefighters and police personnel rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation but failed to trace her till yesterday night. The firefighting team again carried out a search operation today and recovered her body.
