Bhubaneswar: The body of Odisha tourist Prashant Satpathy, who was killed in the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, will be flown back to Odisha today. Prashant, a resident of Balasore district, was on a family vacation with his wife and son when he was caught in the terrorist attack that claimed 26 lives.
According to the Office of the Resident Commissioner of Odisha in New Delhi, Prashant’s body is scheduled to arrive in Delhi from Srinagar at 2:35 PM today. From Delhi, it will be flown to Bhubaneswar on a late evening flight, reaching around 9:45 PM.
Prashant’s family is expected to receive his body at Bhubaneswar airport, after which he will be given a proper farewell. The incident has sent shockwaves across Odisha, with people expressing grief and outrage over the tragic event.
It is pertinent to mention that Prashant, her wife Priyadarshini and their nine-year-old son, who are from Balasore, were alighting from a ropeway in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir when unidentified terrorists opened fire, leaving death and destruction in their wake. In the chaos that ensued, Prashant sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head.
Priyadarshini remembered that her husband remained conscious for a considerable time after being shot, but eventually lost recognition of her. The delay in rescue operations, with Army personnel taking around one and a half hours to reach the spot, led to his death.
