Baripada: Fire Services personnel on Monday recovered the body of a student 20 hours after he went missing after drowning in the Kandiya Falls in Mayurbhanj on Sunday.
The deceased was Nishikant Naik (17), son of Devkant Naik of Narsinghpur village under Kuakhia police limits in Jajpur district. He is a first year student of Upendra Sarada College of Science and was studying at Zenith Coaching Center in the village. He had gone for a picnic at the tourist spot along with his friends on Sunday.
According to reports, Nishikant fell off into the water fall while taking a selfie.
On being informed, Fire Services personnel and the police reached the spot and launched a search operation yesterday. The incident took place around 11:00 am on Sunday and the body was recovered from the water around 8:00 am on Monday. The body has been sent for post-mortem.
