Bhubaneswar: An anonymous email threatening a bomb attack at the Khordha District Judicial Court Complex in Bhubaneswar triggered panic among lawyers, staff and visitors on Wednesday, prompting immediate evacuation, security checks and a massive search operation by police teams.
Soon after receiving the threat, a bomb disposal squad along with a dog squad was rushed to the court premises and carried out an extensive inspection of the entire complex. Security personnel scanned several areas, including Lift No. 1 near the panel board and the passage leading to the underground section of the court, using metal detectors.
The search operation continued for several hours as teams checked every corner of the court premises. However, no suspicious object was found during the inspection.
An advocate present at the court said, “An anonymous email threatening a bomb attack was received by the court. The bomb disposal team and dog squad are searching the entire premises, but nothing has been found so far. This is the fourth time such a threatening email has been received. While the emails are being sent repeatedly, the sender and the source of the messages are yet to be identified.”
Following the alert, personnel from Badagada Police Station reached the spot and launched an investigation to trace the origin of the threatening email. Police officials also reviewed security arrangements at the court complex and continued verification of the premises.
