Keonjhar/Bargarh: Poll-related violence was also witnessed during the fourth phase of the panchayat polls in the State today.
According to reports, tension erupted in Balagoda panchayat in mineral-rich Keonjhar district when booth capturing was reported from few a booths at Balagoda panchayat ITI. Ballot rigging by some persons was strongly opposed by others which led to tension.
However, the situation came under control after police reached the spot and assured of an investigation into the matter.
In a separate incident of poll violence, two groups of BJD and BJP workers clashed in Pondaki Pali village under Sohela block in Bargarh district today.
According to reports, BJD workers Akshaya Bhoi and Raju Sahu were injured in the clash and have been hospitalized.
They were initially rushed to Sohela government hospital and were later shifted to the district headquarters hospital as their health condition deteriorated.
Tension prevailed in the village following the clash. Padmapur SDPO along with police force is camping in the village to maintain law and order.
