Boudh Becomes Hottest Place In Country For Second Consecutive Day

Bhubaneswar: Western Odisha is experiencing a severe heatwave, with Boudh recording the highest temperature in the country at 43.6 degrees Celsius on Sunday. This is the second consecutive day that Boudh has topped the list of the hottest places in the country.

According to the India Meteorological Department, several other places in Odisha recorded temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius. These include Jharsuguda (42 degrees Celsius), Balangir (41.7 degrees Celsius), Angul (41.1 degrees Celsius), Titlagarh (40.5 degrees Celsius), Sundargarh (40.3 degrees Celsius) and Bhawanipatna (40.2 degrees Celsius).

The regional meteorological centre has issued a heatwave warning for several districts for the next four days.
The IMD has also predicted thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds in several districts, including Bhadrak, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Sundargarh.

Previously, on Saturday, Boudh had recorded a temperature of 42.5 degrees Celsius, making it the hottest city in the country. Following closely were Sambalpur at 42.2 degrees Celsius, Jharsuguda at 41.8 degrees Celsius, Angul at 41.7 degrees Celsius, Balangir at 41.5 degrees Celsius, Sonepur at 41.2 degrees Celsius, Titlagarh at 41 degrees Celsius, Sundargarh at 40.8 degrees Celsius, Keonjhar at 40.6 degrees Celsius, Rourkela at 40.5 degrees Celsius, Hirakud at 40.2 degrees Celsius, Baripada at 40.2 degrees Celsius, and Bhawanipatna at 40.2 degrees Celsius.
