Bhubaneswar: AICC president Sonia Gandhi on Monday approved the candidature of Kishore Patel for the Brajarajnagar bye-election. The senior Congress leader’s name was recommebed by the OPCC on Friday. Patel’s name was approved by Gandhi today, the CEC General Secretary Mukul Wasnik stated.
Patel, the former Speaker of Odisha Assembly and ex-Minister, will contest for the Brajarajnagar seat with BJD’s Alaka Mohanty (late Kishore Mohanty’s wife) and former MLA Radharani Panda, of the BJP. The bye-election is scheduled on May 31, while the results will be out on June 3.
