Khordha: Police have seized 500 grams of brown sugar worth around Rs 50 Lakh during a raid on the Kuhudi-Benipathar road under Tangi police station in Khordha district. Three persons have been arrested in this case, and approximately 30 grams of gold jewelry have been seized from them.
Balugaon SDPO Sanjay Kumar Pattnaik informed the media about this today during a press conference. According to the information, following the directions of SP Vivekananda Sharma and under his supervision, a team led by Tangi police station IIC R.K. Bhujabal had been lying in wait near Kuhudi Talagada. While a brown sugar transaction was being planned, the team raided the spot and arrested three persons, including a woman.
The arrested accused are: Atashi Ranjan Majhi alias Bapu (33) from Soro, Balasore; Sk Asaraf alias Bibhuti (28) from Naya Bazar, Balasore; and Akash Sethi (23), a resident of Baudh Butupali-Ranjanpali, currently living in Jamadeipur, Khordha.
From them, the police have seized: 500 grams of brown sugar, a white-colored Bolero (OD 22 T 4474), three mobile phones, ₹70,000 in cash, one KTM motorcycle (OD 01 JZ 9829), two gold chains (8.35g and 10g), earrings (2g), three ear studs (9.32g), two nose pins (0.84g), and two lockets (1.80g).
A case has been registered against the accused under NDPS Act sections 21(b)(2) C/29, numbered 356/2026, and has been produced in court. Further investigation into the case has been entrusted to SI Sunil Kumar Murmu.
