Bhubaneswar: The Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha has extended the last date for submitting online applications for the Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test (OTET) 2026 by one month.

Candidates can now apply till May 9, 2026.The original deadline for OTET 2026 applications was Thursday midnight (April 9, 2026). However, many aspirants could not complete the process within the stipulated time. Taking this into consideration, the Board decided to give candidates additional time to submit their forms.

According to sources, more than 70,000 candidates have already applied for the examination so far. A large number of applicants are in-service teachers. With the extended window, officials and candidates expect the total number of applications to cross the one lakh mark. The extension provides aspirants with sufficient time to fill up the forms carefully and avoid last-minute technical issues.

It is pertinent to mention that the OTET is a mandatory eligibility test for candidates wishing to become teachers in government and private schools in Odisha for Classes I to VIII. The examination is likely to be conducted on May 29, 2026.

Candidates are advised to visit the official website www.bseodisha.ac.in or bseoexams.org to complete their application and payment before the new deadline.

“In continuation of the office notification, the last date for submission of online application for OTET-2026 (In-service/Fresh), which was earlier scheduled as 09.04.2026, is hereby extended up to 09.05.2026”, read the notification issued by the BSE.
