Rayagada: A 20-year-old B.Tech student was found hanging at his rented accommodation in Barun Nagar Lane-1 in Gunupur town of Rayagada district on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Kaushik Mahapatra, a second-year civil engineering student at a private college in Gunupur. He was a native of the Sora area in Baleshwar district and had been staying alone in a rented house.
According to reports, Kaushik was found hanging inside the house. The circumstances surrounding his death are yet to be ascertained.
On being informed, a team of Gunupur police led by IIC KKBK Kanhar reached the spot and began an investigation. The body was recovered and sent for post-mortem examination. The deceased student’s family has been informed about the incident, police said.
Further investigation is underway.
