Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, a 55-year-old passenger bus driver succumbed to a heart attack while driving in Bolgarh, of Khordha district.

Sarat Chandra Martha, a resident of Jachiali village, was behind the wheel of the ‘Vishakha’ bus, carrying around 70 passengers from Bhubaneswar to Bhanjanagar in Ganjam district.

Despite experiencing severe chest pain, Martha managed to drive the bus to Bolgarh bus stand, where he was rushed to the local community health centre. Unfortunately, he was declared dead on arrival. The locals are praising Martha’s heroic act, saying that even in his final moments, he prioritised the safety of the passengers, ensuring the bus came to a halt without any casualties.

The news of Martha’s passing has sent shockwaves through the locality. Martha’s wife and two children are now left to cope with the loss of their breadwinner. The police have registered a case of unnatural death, and an investigation is underway.
