Bhubaneswar: Businessman Amiya Kanta Das appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday after receiving summons in connection with the blackmailer Archana Nag sextortion case. Das had transferred Rs 10 lakh to Archana and her husband Jagabandhu’s account. The ED is investigating why he sent so much money.
Das had in 2021-22, deposited Rs 10 lakh into the accounts of Archana and Jagabandhu through the cheque of his company. ED is investigating if he gave the money for business purpose or any other reason.
ED has also summoned Ollywood producer Akshay Kumar Parija to appear in blackmailing, honeytrap and money laundering cases. Despite earlier summons, Parija did not appear before the ED citing health problems.
Parija had earlier lodged a complaint against Archana alleging she had blackmailed him for Rs 3 crores threatening to tarnish his reputation. She claimed that she was in possession of his objectionable videos and photographs with a girl, who was her client.
In the last 5 years, lakhs of rupees have come to Archana’s account through banks and ATMs. It is said that about one and a half crore rupees have been deposited in the form of cash. Many politicians, builders, businessmen and some company owners are said to have sent this money. Therefore, 15 persons have been summoned to find out for what purpose the concerned persons have sent the money.
